Question: How about Restaurant Week every MONTH?!!






Calling all Foodies...

As TDC has been resolved, what becomes of  TTRW2017?  

For the last couple of years, my friends and I look forward to Restaurant week in September as an opportunity to taste everything!!  The promotion and coordination between the eateries were flawless as they offered pre-planned meals at varying price points.  But as the time draws near, my good friend asked, 'Why can't we have  TTRW2017, every month?'

I thought that she was brilliant!  We had Bessfest in July 2017 and by all accounts, it was a huge success.  TTRW can be a themed monthly event of hand selected restaurants from each zone location.  Imagine 101 Arabian Nights themed week and escape to Apsara, Hakka, House of Jaipur or Namaste India for lunch or even dinner.  How about an International Themed week where skillful chefs can showcase their spectacular plating each and every day!  I can think of one that I KRAVE right about now.

In this way, you can take a journey to Italy and sit by the brick oven will you wait on your paper thin pizza with Spinach , Mozzarella Cheese and Shrimp drizzled with Basil flavoured Olive oil at Kava for lunch or escape a few floors up to the serene setting of Tiki Village for Dim Sum on Sunday evenings. 


Lunch in Jamaica begs for Peas and rice,  Jerk Chicken and fresh salad or Creole Kitchen's good ole fashioned 'Sunday Food' of  Stewed  Chicken, Macaroni pie, Lentils and Callaloo! how about a day old Pelau with Cole Slaw and Tamarind Sauce like my good friend B makes! ♥

The possibilities are very doable in my humble opinion, but then again, I could be plain 'licorish'.

Happy Tuesday!! When it comes to drinks, adult or kids version , there are a hand selected few that can be named as must haves.. Bake and Shark... Think Asha's!

Bake and Shark   Who say Beach?! Bake and Shark.. Another street food. This is a staple when heading to North Coastal beaches such as Maracas, Las Cuevas and Toco.  Your first 'beach stop' will be at Maracas, then make a bee line to Asha's Bake and Shark, next to the parking lot. Now, picture this view, with a Bake and Shark in hand and possibly a soft drink/soda or our local Carib Beer, as Trinis usually do it (though I do not encourage alcohol consumption when driving).   Maracas Beach from Bay View Pub Bake and Shark is simple and elegant.  At Asha's, the bake is always freshly fried as well as the shark, not catfish!! Yuh sweet like a sugar cane!!

Jub Jub Have you ever been told that you have a sweet tooth? or heard 'Girl, you have Sweet Han'! Well, you are not alone.  If you meet any Trinidadian men, you will be amazed of their natural skill set to manipulate words, on the spot, and form a joke or compliment usually to a female.  We call it 'droppin' lyrics' .  This is my list of the island's confectionery titles and possible labels associated with them.. Jub -Jub : This is a soft gelatin brilliantly coloured candy, (coated in sugar and flavoured with Caribbean goodness) fruit chewy and has a marshmallow consistency.  The Caribbean flavours covers Passion Fruit, Lime, Caribbean Cherry, Guava, Coconut, Rum and Soursop.
